Transportation
There are three ways to get to the Venice of Savoie. The best and easiest of course is to take a flight from Paris-Orly airport which will take you straight to Annecy.
Get in
Geneva is the nearest major international airport and is well served from across Europe and beyond. A little further away are Lyon, a full international airport, and Grenoble, which is focused on low cost and winter flights. Both are about a one-hour drive by car or bus. The airport at Annecy only has flights to Paris.
Annecy has train services from Geneva, Grenoble, Lyon, and Paris. Nine trains per day arrive from Grenoble with a one-way fare of 17€. About six daily trains arrive from Paris. The fare is 65€ to 90€ one-way, with a trip time just under 4 hours.
If you’re driving, Annecy is near several highways: From Paris, take A6 southeast to Beaune and connect with A6/N6 south to Macon-Nord. Then follow A40 southeast to Seyssel, connecting with N508 going southeast to Annecy. From Geneva, follow A40W to St. Julien and take RN201 south toward Annecy.
Get around
The best way to get around and really see the town is on foot. But another alternative if you get tired of walking is renting a bicycle.
